Continuation of Find The Right Devices to Manage Your Child Care Center - Part 1
Using management software at your child care center is a great way to be more efficient and to save you time. Although there is some work required initially to get up and running, the move to using technology will be worth your time and effort. The first step is finding child care management software that best meets the needs of your center. Once you have selected your software of choice, you will need to ensure that you have the appropriate devices to run it. Here’s a breakdown of the different PC devices available to help make this task easier.
The nice thing about buying a PC desktop is that you have many different options at many different price points. If you aren’t worried about the cost, the Microsoft Surface Studio is top of the line, with amazing functionality and a starting retail price of $2999 USD. Not to worry though, there are plenty of cheaper options like the Lenovo AOI 510 series. It has amazing ratings and starts as low as $429 USD.
There are plenty of mid-range laptops available in the $600-$800 USD range. They are all very comparable and your purchase decision can be based on your preferences or perhaps by taking advantage of an available sale. If you are looking for a cheaper option, there is one laptop that really stands out. The Asus Chromebook Flip, starts at only $499 USD. The ultra portable laptop doesn’t have all the frills, but it can easily manage your daily tasks in web-based software such as Sandbox.
Again, there are many different options for tablets with a wide price range. There are two great options that stand out. The slightly more expensive option is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S which starts at $469 USD. A beautiful display, 8mp camera and the octacore processor means you will have no issues completing your daily tasks on this tablet. The second option, the Asus ZenPad S 8.0, starts as low as $129 USD, and sports a 5mp camera. The display is lower quality and the quality of photos will be lower due to the fact that it only has a 5mp camera, however, it won’t have any issues running the Sandbox Teacher app or the Timeclock.
If you don’t allow personal devices in the classroom you may want to purchase mobile devices for your center. Higher end phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S8, Google Pixel, Oneplus 5, ect. are all very similar when comparing features and functionality, however with the high price (they are all between the $500-$800 USD range) they are likely not as appealing. There are also some cheaper options available such as the Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom starting at $329.99 USD and the Moto G5 Plus which starts at $229.99 USD.
